A STUDY OF PSYCHOSES IN FEMALE MIGRANTS

Abstract
Sixty-three female non-British migrants with acute psychotic states, admitted to the Receiving House, Royal Park, between November, 1959, and July, 1960, were studied in terms of socio-economic, educational and cultural background and clinical states. Most of these patients have a very poor socio-economic and educational background. Of the 63 patients 41 suffered from paranoid reactions, related to the difficulties of assimilation. Some reasons for their breakdowns are suggested.
