Abstract
Expanding the Dirac resolvent around its nonrelativistic limit, the authors propose a new method for calculating relativistic corrections to bound-state energies. The present results are more powerful than the expressions obtained by Foldy and Wouthuysen and remain applicable for Coulomb as well as nonlocal interactions. Keywords
