Abstract
The present work presents the static properties of an off-center monopole impurity in a host lattice of octahedral symmetry. The energy levels of the lowest lying states were determined and classified for a model multi-well potential in the tunneling approximation. The effects of externally applied electric fields on the energy levels, specific heat, absorption spectrum, and induced dipole moment of the impurity are studied in detail for the model. The effects of uniaxial stress on the absorption spectrum are also studied. Keywords
