Abstract
Quark models of hadron production in the beam-fragmentation region are extended to production off nuclei by taking into account quark attenuation in nuclear matter. Simple expressions are derived for the dependence of the production of beam fragments. They reproduce well the experimental data on hadron-nucleus and virtual-photon-nucleus collisions.
