Abstract
I do not know about other therapists, but when I read reviews of the literature on the impact of sexual abuse, I am overwhelmed by the broad range of symptoms that has been potentially implicated (Kendall-Tackett, Williams, & Finkelhor, 1992; Urquiza & Capra, 1990). There is no single indicator of abuse, and the overt impact ranges from minimal to profound. Children could present in my office with symptoms that include compulsive behaviors, problems with sleeping, behavioral regression, and sexual acting out.
