Abstract
The vacuum‐ultraviolet photolysis of films of solid ethane has been studied both at 1470 and 1236 Å. The product distributions have been measured and evidence is presented for the quenching of excited ethane and ethylene. The over‐all mechanism, with the exception of quenching reactions, appears to be the same as in the gas‐phase photolysis.Keywords
