Abstract
The Krafla geothermal field is located in northeastern Iceland. In December 1975 a rifting episode started in the fissure swarm intersecting the geothermal field. Volcanic activity has been associated with the rifting events. During these events pressure pulses have been recorded in nearby wells. A model based on simple equations describing heat flow in porous media and the pressure diffusivity equation is developed to analyze these pulses. The model is applied to two field cases. The results obtained for transmissivity and formation storage are in good agreement with results obtained from independent well tests. Keywords
