Abstract
A 17-mo.-old boy who contracted a severe generalized BCG infection is reported. He was treated for 2 yr with streptomycin, isoniazide and rifamipicin and is now, at the age of 5 yr, apparently cured. The boy had an unexplained discrepancy between humoral and cellular PPD [purified protein derivative] reactivity for several years, but conventional immunological studies including plasma Ig levels, blast transformation and MLC [mixed lymphocyte culture] reactivity were all normal. This is probably the 1st child reported who has survived a generalized BCG infeciton. Keywords
