Abstract
Two new minor components have been isolated from kamala. One is a red C-methylated cinnamoyl chromen (III) related to one half of the rottlerin structure. The other (yellow) is a rearranged flavanone-chromen (VII) which can also be obtained from the red component by acid treatment. According to criteria employing n.m.r. shifts of the chromen olefinic protons induced by acetylation, the change is not completely analogous to the rottlerin → isoallorottlerin change. The status of the two new compounds as artefacts or natural products is debatable. Keywords
