Abstract
This paper reports the first outbreak of the large aspen tortrix Choristoneura conflictana (Walker), in 1960 in stands of quaking aspen in the Warner Mountains of northeastern California. Before 1960 this defoliator was rarely collected in the State since it first was found here in 1922. Previous California records are summarized, the current outbreak described, and brief notes on life history are given.
