The genetic factor influencing pulmonary hypertension in cattle at high altitude

Abstract
Susceptibility or resistance to high altitude pulmonary hypertension in cattle appears to be determined genetically, although the mechanism is obscure. Susceptible animals did not exhibit greater intrinsic reactivity of the pulmonary vasculature in response to prostaglandin F2α. Neither did they have a greater hypoxic stimulus at altitude due to hypoventilation.
