Abstract
Despite protection, undi-minished food supply and shelter, fewer natural enemies, and less hunting, quail in parts of California are decreasing in numbers. It is suggested that the critical factor may be failure of young quail hatched on waterless areas to find water for drinking before they acquire sufficient wing power to enable them to go necessary distances for it. And surface water accessible to quail is disappearing generally, as a result of pumping and tunneling. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
