Abstract
With two-photon photoelectron spectroscopy we have investigated the image states on a Pd(111) surface with Au coverages up to 10 ML. The energies of the image states are strongly influenced by the quantum well of the Au layers. The coupling of the image states to the quantum-well states is described by one-dimensional model calculations that reproduce the experimental results quantitatively. Keywords
