Abstract
This paper develops a rational choice model designed to explain firms' choices between predominantly "ideological" or "pragmatic" PAC contribution strategies, Hypotheses are derived from the model and are tested against the actual PAC contribution behavior of Fortune 500 firms in the 1978, 1980, and 1982 congressional elections.Keywords
