Vibrational spectra and force constants of symmetric tops

Abstract
The monoisotopic species H3Si 79Br and H3Si 81Br have been investigated with a resolution of 0·04 cm-1 in the region of the fundamental v 6 near 630 cm-1. For each isotopomer about 1500 ΔK, ΔJ = ±1 lines have been measured, assigned and fitted by different models, and σ(J, K) values of 5·0 and 5·2 × 10-3 cm-1 have been achieved in the least squares procedure. QK peaks of the hot bands 2v 6 ±2 - v 6 ±1, 2v 6 0 - v 6 ±1 and v 6 + v 3 - v 3 have been detected and assigned. The two former are independently confirmed by the results of a preliminary rotational analysis of 2v 6 ±2 and 2v 6 0, while the latter is in agreement with the results obtained on v 3 + v 6 - v 6. The molecular parameters of the ν6 = 1 state are in full agreement with the results of a recent microwave investigation of vibrationally excited H3SiBr.
