Abstract
An attempt is made to establish some biometric standards suitable for describing plant communities in quantitative terms. It is as-sumed that the plant community consists of a finite area and a finite number of spp. Data for 10 herbaceous communities are presented as a preliminary to a statistical analysis. The com-mon and rare spp. in these communities were less numerous than the spp. represented by individuals of intermediate density. A new form of folding frame for a multiple quadrat which facili-tates sampling is also descr. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
