The Study and Treatment, on a Neurological Ward, of Abnormally Aggressive Patients with Focal Brain Disease (Part 1 of 2)

Abstract
Thirty-six patients with a history of aggressive violent behavior and/or limbic brain disease were studied on an open neurological-neurosurgical ward by psychiatrists, neurologists and neurosurgeons, complemented by a staff of nurses and aides especially chosen and trained by physicians. Patient history, demographic, physical, neurological, electrophysiologic, psychiatric and roentgenographic findings are presented, as well as the problems and shortcomings of studying such a group within a general hospital framework. The need for close cooperation between psychiatrists and neurologists in dealing with the violent prone, brain diseased patient is emphasized.
