Abstract
Spontaneous birefringence and longitudinal electro-optic coefficient zc of a c-cut of ammonium sulphate crystal were measured vs. temperature. zc has been found to change sign at 218 K. Both quantities are discussed assuming coupling of refraction indices to polarization and another nonpolar parameter. Keywords
