Abstract
A practice task together with a number of reference tests was administered. A factor analysis of scores obtained at different stages of proficiency on the practice task together with scores on the reference tests was carried out. The results confirmed earlier findings with a different psychomotor practice task that considerable but systematic changes in factor structure occur as a function of practice. However, in contrast to the previous study, the present task did not become progressively less complex (in terms of the number of factors measured) as practice was continued. As before, there was an increase in the contribution of a factor common only to the practice task, but this increase was not as marked as with the previous task. Keywords
