Determination of Inorganic Phosphorus in Oxalate Extracts of Soils

Abstract
A simple and rapid procedure for the determination of inorganic phosphorus in acid ammonium oxalate extracts of soils was developed by modifying the ascorbic acid‐molybdenum blue colorimetric method. The oxalate interference in the determination of P was overcome by addition of excess ammonium molybdate. A molar ratio of molybdate to oxalate, in the final solution, of 2.51:1 was required in order to eliminate the oxalate interference.
