INTERFACES IN COMPOSITES REINFORCED WITH RAPIDLY SOLIDIFIED METALLIC RIBBONS

Abstract
Rapidly solidified continuous metallic ribbons of Fe40Ni40B20 alloy have been incorporated into the polypropylene matrix. The quality of interfacial bonding has been investigated by the pull-out tests and scanning electron microscopy of the ribbon surfaces. Rapidly solidified discontinuous ribbons of Ni75Al23B1Zr1 alloy have been cast in the aluminum matrix. SEM combined with KEVEX analysis has been employed to study the interfacial zone formed around the ribbons
