Release and Progress of an Introduced Flea Beetle, Agasicles n. Sp., to Control Alligatorweed1

Abstract
Alligatorweed, Alternanthera phylloxeroides (Mart.) Griseb., a plant introduced from South America, has become a serious pest of waterways in the southern United States. In 1964, a chrysomelid beetle, Agasicles n. sp., was introduced from Argentina as a biological control agent. The insect is well established and beginning to control the plant in some localized areas.
