Synthesis of Porous Polyaromatic Column Packings for GC Analysis of Extraterrestrial Atmospheres

Abstract
The gas chromatograph aboard the Pioneer-Venus 1978 probe required synthesis of a porous polymer packing of low polarity, high efficiency, and short retention time. Another material was formulated for use with a similar instrument that was proposed for a Jupiter mission. This second material was found to be useful in amine analysis.
