Abstract
Pechère, J-F., Capony, J-P., and Demaille, J. (Département de Biochimie Macromoléculaire du CNRS, Montpellier, France, and Laboratoire de Biochimie Médicale, Faculté de Médecine et de Pharmacie, Université de Dakar, Sénégal) 1974. Evolutionary aspects of the structure of muscular parvalbumins. Syst. Zool., 22: 533–548.—The major physicochemical and chemical properties of muscular parvalbumins, as known presently, are reviewed, as well as the available indications concerning their occurrence. From these data, and in particular from eight complete or partial sequences, some features of the evolution of these proteins are deduced, and some comparisons are made with other calcium binding proteins.
