Abstract
SO-CALLED Norwegian scabies is an infestation with Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis that is clinically different from ordinary scabies in its extensiveness, the kind of lesion produced and the type of patient who suffers it. First described in 1848 by Danielssen and Boeck1 in a leper, the condition was named "scabies norvegica Boeckii" by Hebra2 in 1851 when he was shown another case, which he and Boeck proved, by a simple transfer experiment, to be caused by the same mite that causes ordinary scabies. In the United States, only five cases of Norwegian scabies had been reported to 1964.3 4 5 6 7 Case Report . . .Keywords
