A 2-year-old, totally anunic child was hemodialyzed for 3 months with a SCIRT pump and coil kidney utilizing a low flow system. No complications occurred. All clinical and chemical monitoring remained within satisfactory limits. Edema was controlled with two penitoneal dialyses during this time period. It is believed that this represents the longest reported hemodialysis, utilizing a Scribner shunt, in a child of this age.
