Abstract
Intravenous access is critical in infants and children with severe shock or cardiac arrest. However, it is in these clinic situations that venous access may be most difficult. The technique of intraosseous infusion may provide a useful alternative to intravenous access in the initial phases of resuscitation. The method of insertion, indications, contraindications, and complications are reviewed. Keywords
