Abstract
9 isolates of E. amylovora collected from many different localities and as many hosts were compared serologically. The 9 cultures all agglutinated to virtually the homologous titer in each of the 5 prepared antisera. Absorption of each antiserum by any of the isolates resulted in complete removal of both homologous and heterologous agglutinins. Carbohydrate materials extracted from each isolate were used in precipitin tests. In each case such antigens responded to an equal degree in any sera. On the basis of the agglutination tests, agglutinin-absorption and precipitin tests (the latter performed with extracted carbohydrate materials) it was impossible to detect any differences in the 9 E. amylovora isolates. This species is serologically homogeneous. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
