Abstract
A timer is reported in which the actual time of the flight of a bird is recorded. It consists of a piece of photographic emulsion, a source of a -particles, and a small steel ball to act as a shutter. When this mechanism is attached to the bird''s wing, in flight the film is exposed, but at rest the steel ball prevents the a-particles from hitting the film. Keywords
