Abstract
The dependence of the Hall coefficient, R, on the state of order in the alloy Cu3Au has been observed at room temperature and at liquid nitrogen temperature. In the fully ordered state R > 0 while in the disordered state, RR and the dependence of R on both of these quantities has been measured. Even though the material within the domains is highly ordered, the interaction of an electron with a domain boundary causes it to contribute to the Hall coefficient as if it were moving in disordered material. In a qualitative way the dependence of R on the degree of long-range order can be understood in terms of the alteration of Brillouin zone structure which accompanies ordering in this alloy. Keywords
