Abstract
The theory of pressure broadening in pure molecular gases is discussed, using the classical-path approximation and the resolvent operator formalism. Within the classical-path approximation, solutions for problems of pressure broadening are obtained by assuming two-body impact with static many-body corrections. The results are compared with available experimental data and good agreement is obtained. Keywords
