Boron Trifluoride Etherate/Iodide Ion, a Novel Reagent for the Non-Aqueous Conversion of Acetals to Carbonyl Compounds

Abstract
A combination of boron trifluoride etherate and iodide ion in chloroform or acetonitrile is found to be an excellent reagent for the non-aqueous conversion of acetals to carbonyl compounds.
