Abstract
This study was originally undertaken so as to provide information on the life history and ecology of Tarsonemoides truncatus (Ewing), to describe for the first time the developmental instars and male, and to redescribe the female of this species. Research soon indicated, however, that a group of closely related species of mites, including T. truncatus, was involved and that the problems to be investigated were more complex and extensive than anticipated. Keywords
