Abstract
We have measured the cross section for the electron-impact excitation of (22p P°→2s2 in a colliding-beams apparatus for several collision energies near the threshold for the process. We find a cross section of (1.1±0.3)× at threshold. Reasonable agreement is found with close-coupling calculations.
