A Simple Technique for Trapping Gas Chromatographic Samples From A Capillary Column for Mass Spectrometry Or Rechromatography on Another Column

Abstract
A method has been developed for trapping gas chromatographic fractions into 1/16 in., o.d., stainless steel U-traps by using an outlet splitter from a capillary column. Trapped samples could be introduced into a mass spectrometer or rechromatographed on another capillary column in a dual column instrument. The size of the samples was approximately 0.5 microgram. The efficiencies of several trap configurations were determined.
