Abstract
The peaks for both ketones and low molecular weight fatty acids with single methyl-branched structures showed similar anomalous exaltation of peak widths, compared to straight chain structures, in GLC on the porous polymer bead material Chromosorb 101. This effect appeared to double in the more complex 2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone. The same materials studied with Porapak-QS showed little or no difference from related straight-chain structures.
