Abstract
Bolin focuses on how student teachers develop a concept of teaching and think about their role. Bolin's case study of one preservice teacher (Lou) is based on journal entries and interviews with the university supervisor. Findings suggest that the reflective journal may be an ef fective tool in helping students become deliberative about their teaching. Keywords
