Catalytic Asymmetric Epoxidation with (Salen)manganese(III) Complex Bearing Binaphthyl Groups of Axial Chirality

Abstract
Chiral (salen)manganese(III) complexes bearing binaphthyl groups of axial chirality were newly prepared and used for the asymmetric epoxidation of unfunctionalized olefins as catalysts. Epoxidation of cis-olefins was found to proceed with high enantioselectivity in the presence of pyridine N-oxide, when complex 4a was used as a catalyst.
