Abstract
Summary. The justification, brief description and development stages of a system of automatically controlled large‐scale plasma protein fractionation is presented. In this process a continuous stream of plasma and its precipitated fractions are maintained in circumstances of maximum safeguard whilst being subjected to closely controlled manipulation of the five standard variables of organic solvent precipitation. Early fractionation results, obtained while operating at a plasma flow‐rate of 15 l/h, are presented and their significance is discussed. Proposed future developments designed to remove the deficiencies of the existing system arc presented and the expected effects of such development are considered. Keywords
