Measurement of the $D^{0}$ Lifetime

Abstract

We have used an electronic tracking system to measure the lifetime of

D^{0}

mesons produced in

e^{+} e^{-}

annihilation at 29 GeV. Based on a sample of 27 events, the lifetime is found to be (

{4.2}_{- 1.0}^{+ 1.3}

±1.0) ×

10^{- 13}

s.
