Abstract
The scattering of electrons in amorphous selenium was investigated by measuring the attenuation of excited electrons passing through selenium films of different thicknesses. The attenuation due to inelastic scattering was determined by observing the decrease of photoemission current when a thin film of amorphous Se was deposited on a semitransparent CuI photocathode. The attenuation length was found to be (40±10) Å for excited electrons of (4.7±1.0) eV in the conduction band. On the basis of observed attenuation length, the relaxation frequency for electron‐electron scattering is estimated to be 2.4×1014 sec−1.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
