Abstract
Self-consistent mean-field calculations have been performed on nuclei with . When compared to experimental values, the two neutron separation enegies and the mean-square-charge radii differences are in excellent agreement for isotopes with , providing additional evidence for a region of strong deformation around . For isotopes with the discrepancy between experiment and calculation can account for large zero-point quadrupole vibrations.
