GAS LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE CONSTITUENTS OF CARAWAY SEED OIL

Abstract
By means of a prefractionation of the monoterpene hydrocarbon mixture of the essential oil of the fruits of Carum carvi L. on a silicagel column by elution with pentane, collection of a number of small fractions and subsequent analysis of each fraction by means of gas chromatography on 8 m long packed columns the following compounds were found: Tricyclene, α–pinene, α–thujene, β–fenchene, camphene, β–pinene, sabinene, Δ3–carene, myrcene, α–phellandrene, α–terpinene, limonene, β–phellandrene, γ–terpinene, p–cymene and terpinolene. Mittels einer säulenchromatographischer Vortrennung des Monoterpenkohlenwasserstoffgemisches des ätherischen Öles der Früchte von Carum carvi L. an einer Kieselgelsäule mit Pentan als Elutionsmittel, Auffangens einer Anzahl von kleinen Fraktionen und gaschromatographischer Analyse von jeder Fraktion an 8 m langen, gepackten Trennsäulen wurden die folgenden Monoterpenkohlenwasserstoffe nachgewiesen: Tricyclen, α–Pinen, α–Thujen, β–Fenchen, Camphen, β–Pinen, Sabinen, Δ3–Caren, Myrcen, α–Phellandren, α–Terpinen, Limonen, β–Phellandren, γ–Terpinen, p–Cymen und Terpinolen.
