Abstract
Physicians have long recognized that therapeutic effects of pharmacologically inactive agents can be a complicating factor in medical research. Not only pills but also other features of the physician-patient encounter may recruit the healing response. Deliberate use of the placebo response may improve both patient satisfaction and treatment efficacy. Keywords
