Serotaxonomy of Aotus

Abstract
Recent studies have suggested that two groups of the genus Aotus (griseimembra and trivirgatus) should be classified as separate species on the basis of coat coloration and karyotypic differences. Immunologic studies of the serum proteins of these two groups were performed using antisera prepared in Macacafascicularis. Only two differences between the groups were found. Bisalbuminemia appeared only in the trivirgatus group. An immunologically distinct α2-macroglobulin was found between the two groups.
