Effects of B-8 size and interaction asymtotics on the low-energy Be7(p,gamma)B8 cross section
Abstract
We calculate several B-8 observables within the microscopic three-cluster model and study their potential constraints on the zero-energy astrophysical S factor of the Be7(p,gamma)B8 reaction. We find that these observables are in good agreement with the phenomenological values. Thus, the microscopic three-cluster model predicts a rather large value of S_{17}(0)=(24-26.5) eVb. We also replace the Gaussian asymptotics of the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction by the proper exponential behavior and study its effect on the capture cross section and find that at most it slightly increases the calculated value of S_{17}(0).Keywords
