Abstract
An unknown metabolite of sulfadimethoxine (SDM) in chicken excreta was identified as N1-(2-methoxy-6-hydroxy-4-pyrimidinyl) sulfanilamide by mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and etc. It was found to be a principal metabolite in the excreta of chicken that received SDM and considered as the causal substance of the nonlinear pharmacokinetics of SDM in chicken. This is the first report, in which the compound is identified as the major metabolite of SDM.
