Abstract
To obtain a chemotherapeutic substance that might reach intracellularly contained parasites, 1000 units of streptomycin hydrochloride were combined with 20 mg. of an electro-negatively charged colloid, trypan blue, in 1 ml. of water at pH 7.4. This complex did not dialyze through a cellophane membrane. One ml. of the complex injected intraperit. into mice gave substantial drug levels not only in blood, but also in spleen and liver (organs rich in reticulo-endothelium) 1, 4, 8 and 25 hrs. after injn., in contrast to low drug levels in blood and liver at 1 hr. and none in spleen and other tissues at the remaining time intervals when an equivalent amt. of streptomycin in water was injected. Keywords
