Abstract
This study examines how some of the country's future professionals perceive the aged. The data indicate that among social work, law, and medical students there is a striking absence of knowledge of the most basic facts about the elderly. In spite of-exaggerated beliefs about the size and problems of the elderly, not one student in the sample indicated a primary interest in working with the elderly. This lack of interest in the aged has several implications for professional education.
