Abstract
A barotropic ?-plane model of unsteady coastal currents over a sloping continental shelf driven by surface winds is analysed. The equation for the alongshore velocity is solved numerically and includes the effects of Rossby, shelf and Kelvin waves. The solution is compared with observations of some upwelling events off Northwest Africa. DOI: 10.1111/j.2153-3490.1980.tb00975.xKeywords
